Rovers have finally completed their 5th signing of the summer. In comes, the first striker of the summer and I still think we can expect 1 or 2 more.
Welcome to Dominic Samuel
Rovers have paid a reported £500k to Reading for Samuel. They also beat off competition from Ipswich and Barnsley. It’s reported the deal was held up by his agent, but Rovers offered Samuel more money than the other teams to snag the English striker.
Samuel adds some much-needed depth to the striker position, as in Mowbray’s words, we only have Graham. This may open the door for Stokes to head north, Mowbray did say if people were to leave, they must be replaced first.
Samuel is a 23-year-old, 6ft-2 striker from Reading FC, he has been with Reading since 2012 when he was promoted from the youth squad. He has only managed 7 appearances for the Reading first team and has spent every season out on loan, one of those seasons was with Mowbray at Coventry where he scored 6 goals in 13 games.
This would be a much-needed addition to the squad and TM seems to be favouring players he has had during his time at Coventry.
